On the 20th, for about two hours at Lotte World Tower headquarters in Jamsil, we explained current market changes, such as China's increase in petrochemical self-sufficiency and strengthening regulations in advanced markets such as the United States and Europe, to executives and team leaders, and shared prospects for the future.
Since taking office as CEO, I have directly inspected the business, encouraged people, and met with employees through field management at home and abroad, but this was the first time I was able to meet all about 160 executives and team leaders. President Lee Hoon-ki began the town hall meeting by directly explaining the current changes in the petrochemical industry and the company's reality, saying, “Let us execute qualitative growth by actively responding to the pace of change with a clear direction and goal.”
As an implementation plan for this, strategic tasks and performance goals for each SBU (Strategic Business Unit) of basic chemicals / advanced materials / fine chemicals / battery materials / hydrogen energy were explained and future directions were shared.
First, the company said it would maintain the proportion of its business by strengthening its core competitiveness through operational efficiency in basic chemicals, and maintain a stable profit-generating structure by fostering a competitive portfolio in the advanced materials business and fine chemicals.
In addition, it was explained to executives and employees that the new growth businesses of battery materials and hydrogen energy will lead to establishing a global leading position centered on anode foil and cathode foil, respectively, establishing a business foundation using by-product hydrogen, and expanding business by securing clean ammonia overseas.
